Mountains near Lucerne
You can easily reach Mount Pilatus, the local mountain of Lucerne, by cable car from Kriens or by the steepest cogwheel railway in the world from Alpnachstad.
On a clear day, you can see north to the Black Forest and the Vosges, and to the south, the Alps stretch out before you.

Mount Rigi, the Queen of the Mountains, also offers a wonderful round trip. Enjoy a boat ride to Vitznau, where you transfer to the oldest cogwheel railway in Europe to reach the summit. Here you have various options for a shorter or longer hike before descending again towards Arth-Goldau to return to the valley. From Goldau, the train will take you back to Lucerne.

The Stanserhorn, with the world's first open-top cable car, can be reached from Lucerne by train or car in a short time. A short hike to the summit and visiting the marmots along with the magnificent view promise an unforgettable experience.

Not far from Lucerne, you will also find Stoos. A mountain village for hiking and relaxing, with the wonderful viewpoint mountains Klingenstock and Fronalpstock.

If you prefer to go to the snow, we suggest Titlis. You can take the train or drive to Engelberg, a beautiful mountain village, and there you can board the gondola, which takes you via Trübsee and Stand to Titlis and the glacier.
